Athletics (Track and Field)

Track and field athletics, commonly known as athletics or track and field, is a collection of sports events that involve running, throwing and jumping. The name “athletics” is derived from the Greek word “athlos” meaning “contest”.
Athletes compete for medals. Third place gets a bronze medal, second place gets a silver medal and first place gets the gold medal.

There are a lot of different track and field events at the Olympic games each has been broken down into a subcatagory and seperated into male and female events. Please select the appropriate disipline from the menu on the left.
